Leadership in Workplace

I am going to start this discussion with a popular quotes of Steve Jobs: “Management is about persuading people to do things they don’t want to do, while leadership is about inspiring people to do things they never thought they could.”

Good leadership is the pillar of strength for any organisation. People run organizations. There are different pieces to be fit in an organizational puzzle. You can’t just hire employees and expect them to solve the existing puzzle on their own. It is not possible to reach your destination without the roadmap and toolkit. You must make the employees clear about what is expected of them at the very beginning. On the way they may and will get stumbled, they will lose their motivation to move forward. If the destination seems impossible to reach in, that is when you need a menton to guide and that’s what called Leadership.

Effective leadership can drive individuals to understand organisational aspects and build interpersonal relation. It also optimize productivity and accomplish corporate priorities. And it does not only stop here. It elevates employees motivation and morale, eleminate bias, build confidence, develop a safe work environment and foster innovative thinking.

When you are under a good leader, he fills you with all these positive quality so that even if you leave the organisation you come out as a shaped and balanced corporate person who can handle any odd situation at any given point of time.

I were and am fortunate enough to work under such skillful leaders, where everyday has a brand new learning to offer. In 8 years of work experience I’ve learned that strong leaders, listen to their teams, ask right questions and give everyone the chance to contribute.

In simple words Leadership is an art. Leaders who understand, they are in a privileged position from where they can direct, shape and focus on the potential of their employees directly, organisation having such leaders achieve its vision and purpose easily.

Good leaders know that no one is an expert in everything. They inspire people to believe that impossible is possible, they enhance their team’s best performance, they develope and build people to perform at heights they never imagine.

In the end, I want to conclude by saying, good leaders are not defined by the number of degrees they have, they are defined by how well they treat their team and it reflects in their team performances. Leadership is all about helping, guiding, encouraging and creating positive impact. Don’t treat it just as a title or position.
